£2,500 donated to help Daisy
The JAM Fund charity update:-
The charity has been able to donate the sum of £2500 to a 15 year old young lady from N.Ireland named Daisy. Daisy was born with a condition known as Cystic Hygroma which made it very difficult to breathe and she had to have a tracheostomy initially.
Daisy wasn't able to speak until she was four years old.
Despite multiple surgical procedures both in N.Ireland and London, her condition is not curable and sadly throughout her life she has experienced cruel and disrespectful comments from ignorant people, but her elder sister and Mum have seen how inspirational and positive she has become.
Daisy has chosen to pursue a career path in hairdressing and beauty and is going to use the funds to purchase necessary equipment and also ( very admirably) stated, she liked to help her elder sister as she prepared for University.
Daisy's mum also wants to give her a very special, landmark 16th birthday.
The funds donated were raised by the JAM Fund team at the recent Barry Island 10k and over £1k raised for the charity by my ex shipmates of HMS Cornwall at our recent reunion weekend in Plymouth.
I'd also like to thank Mount Pleasant Playgroup in Barry for their continued support and Mrs Viv Davies for her recent donation.
The charity is hosting a family fun day and football tournament at Jenner Park Stadium, Barry on 4th July all welcome and I am looking for a few volunteers to assist with marshalling on the day.
There will also be a special Christmas party later this year for very poorly children using the remaining funds from the 10k team and raised from the tournament.
Thank you all concerned for your support .
